The drawing is based on a photo of Mary Kiona, Cowlitz / Yakama tribes at age 107, who lived to be 121 years old. She was the longest-living Native American in the State of Washington. Her age was estimated conservatively by her memories of growing up along the Chehalis River. She remembered the first white settlers and the first treaties with Northwest Coast tribes.
